Ulva Walled Garden - Project Update
The Ulva Walled Garden Project is nearing completion, following several months of work to bring this once overgrown and unused space back into life.
With support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (Vibrant & Living Spaces), the project has focused on creating a welcoming and sustainable community growing space and visitor amenity – a place that can be enjoyed by both residents and those visiting the island.
This phase builds on the care and effort already being put into the garden by the Ulva Community Garden volunteers, who have been quietly shaping and maintaining the space over many years.
It’s been great to see the garden take shape over recent months. The polytunnel and shed are now in place, internal raised beds have been completed, stone walls repaired, drainage works carried out, and planting around the pond area has begun to establish.
A number of final elements are due to be completed during April, including a shelter, water connection, installation of a water storage tank, and the completion of outdoor raised beds.
The project has been made possible through the invaluable support of Ulva residents, volunteers, the wider Mull community and local tradesmen, whose time, skills and input have all played an important role in getting the garden to this stage.
The charity is really pleased with the progress so far and looks forward to sharing a final update once everything is complete!
This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and administered by Argyll and Bute Council.
